There is no single honest price for “Indian catering in Toronto” because guest count, menu, service style, staffing, venue, and timing change the scope. What can be answered clearly is what one caterer currently publishes. This guide uses Mehfill’s first-party rates as of August 26, 2026; it is not presented as a survey of every GTA caterer.
All figures below are in Canadian dollars before HST. Availability and the final total are confirmed in a written quote.

The buffet rates cover different selection frameworks, not an unlimited choice of dishes. Review the current package inclusions and pricing notes before comparing two numbers. A C$28 package and a C$45 package do not contain the same number of selections.
What the buffet prices include
The Gathering Buffet includes one appetizer, three mains, one rice, one bread, and one dessert selection. Signature increases the appetizer count to two. Celebration includes two appetizers and four mains. Grand Mehfill includes four appetizers, four mains, one rice, one bread, and two desserts, with the total quoted for the event.
These are framework counts. The final dish choices, dietary plan, substitutions, equipment, and service details are confirmed during quoting. The current catering menu is the right place to explore available directions; it should not be read as a promise that every listed item can be combined at a package rate.
Delivery and live-service fees
Standard GTA delivery is C$40 and includes drop-off setup. Live catering and Indian BBQ use a different structure: one C$100 total fee covers transportation, setup, teardown, and equipment. The C$100 does not stack on top of the C$40 standard delivery fee for the same live/BBQ event.
Parking is not charged as an extra fee under the current shared policy. Event-specific equipment is quoted when required.
Staffing can materially change the total
Staffing is C$18 per staff member, cook, chef, or supervisor per hour before HST. There is a three-hour minimum for each person, and staff travel time is not billed.
For every live or BBQ event, the standard team is five service staff and two cooks. When the guest count is above 100, two additional service staff are added. The service window is normally two to three hours, but the quote confirms billable hours around the actual setup and event plan.
Buffet staffing is event-specific. A drop-off buffet and a fully staffed hosted buffet should not be expected to cost the same even when the food selection is identical. The delivery, setup, and staffing page explains the current terms.
Use a quote formula, not a guessed total
Planning total = menu or package subtotal + the applicable delivery/service fee + staffing + event-specific equipment and add-ons + HST.
This formula is more useful than a generic “per person” answer because it exposes the variables that change. Do not multiply a package rate and call it the final bill without checking delivery, staff, equipment, and tax.
Why guest count changes more than the food subtotal
More guests naturally increase a per-person menu subtotal, but scale can also change the operational plan. Live and BBQ events add two service staff only when the guest count is above 100. Larger events may need different service points, layouts, access windows, or equipment. Those needs cannot be priced accurately from headcount alone.
Mehfill’s standard catering minimum is 15 guests, live and BBQ minimum is 25, and the current typical maximum is 1,000 guests. One accepted catering order uses one of six company-wide daily slots, whether the order is small or large. Date availability can therefore matter independently of headcount.
Food-tray pricing is a different buying decision
Published tray prices range by size and vegetarian or non-vegetarian category. For example, a Half Shallow tray is listed at C$65 vegetarian or C$70 non-vegetarian, while a Full Deep tray is C$140 vegetarian or C$150 non-vegetarian. Each size has a stated serving range, but real needs still depend on how many dishes are being served and whether the tray is the whole meal or one part of it.
Use the party trays versus buffet guide to choose the buying format before using tray ranges as a budget. The article deliberately does not prescribe a universal number of trays per guest.
Information that produces a better quote
- Event date, venue address, and serving time
- Expected guest count and whether it is final
- Pickup, standard delivery, staffed buffet, live station, BBQ, or full-service preference
- Preferred package or menu direction
- Vegetarian, vegan, Jain, halal, nut-aware, and other dietary needs
- Venue access, setup window, equipment, and cooking restrictions
- Whether the event needs servers, cooks, tableware, labels, or other add-ons
With those details, request a written catering quote instead of relying on an online calculator. That protects both the budget and the service plan.
